pride.

pride. it's something that annoys me but it's also something that i always chase
i guess we all have that sense of achieving pride or glory . maybe thats why we work so hard, so we can truly say that we're the best of the best.
i enjoy recieving comments from random people on the street about how good our school is, or how polite our students are etcetera. i often feel very proud.
but the problem is after gettin fed all this compliments from people and ESPECIALLY MY DAD. he wont stop sucking up seriously. i dunno whats with it. always going on about how smart i am or how good the students are at our school. seriously, he manages to randomly slip in that i go to james ruse anywhere we go.

example at the bookstore buying textbooks in like yr8 for guan:

me: excuse me. how much is this ?
counter lady: umm check the price tag. its in the book. wow year 12 3u already?
dad: yeah, my son goes to james ruse you know. so they do lotsa accelerated work

probably one of the thousand examples . i guess its just cause he's proud of me. but it gets annoying i guess. and i think it develops this arrogance inside of me too.
many other schools go on about how arrogant we are and we always deny it. but i think it's actually true to some sense.
but i find sometimes that my arrogance can sometimes help me in terms of confidence. for me confidence is a big factor wen i'm playing sport or doing an exam or making a speech. that confidence helps me a lot in achieving good results

what i hate about pride is how people become so stuck up and wannabehardcore because of it. seriously, especially some of these year 11s
what is their problem. have they no moral conscience. swearing and doing stupid stuff does not earn u respect. i guess pride isnt the particular word to specify this
this garvey kid often catches my train home from strathfield to ashfield and at first i tried being nice to him asking him about year 11 and how its going etc.
but he keeps on giving this "i'm pretending im too good for this chitchat tedmoseby-"sorry bro"-nosesnorting cold" attitude. btw you probably wouldnt have gotten that unless you were swami or happened to watch that himym ep.

anyways moving on . as i mentioned previously. ive been visiting the library quite regularly for two main reasons:

- i get a heck load of work done in a non-stressful surrounding environment
- i get to read the latest edition of the $3 financial review daily while drinking my ice tea
being the cheap asian i am. i cant afford to pay $3 to read the financial review. so instead i go to the library to read it. id go to the library anyway but this is just one of the fringe benefits ;). i actually look forward to goin to the library and doin work now. wow i neva thought i'd be into doing work.

eva since i picked up one of these financial reviews on the train in term 1. ive been quite interested in reading it. i think it's because it talks about stuff that ive just learnt in economics. and being ruse kids it feels pretty cool to be reading stuff you've just learnt. its a very interesting read kinda makes you feel intelligent too.

i took the time to take a photo of my daily spot. pretty cool.

one of the things ticked off my things to do before i die list
- have your own "spot": a spot where noone else will sit because they know you are gonna be sitting there at 4pm - 5:30pm
well thats not particularly true. but usually the spot is empty

on the topic of economics. i'm beginning to appreciate the return of my old economics teacher even more and more each day. i love his funny-biased views on things. he's such a woman-hater! it would be interesting to meet his wife. and his basis of teaching is really good. we learn really well and we get entertained at the same time
he must have a million stories up his sleeve . i remember him telling us in yr 11 that someone offered him 90-100 bucks an hour to tutor them but he refused :O thats crazy.
also i found out that khoury is single and lives alone in a top floor unit. full-flying bachelor he is. i thought he'd at least have a girlfriend with his charm and all. lol.

i try not to make my blogs long as it might be an eyeful for people to read. so i will end it there
thank you for the comments. janette i have changed the settings so you and other anonym can comment :)
here's one from quite recently.
and i swear swami will giggle at this (i dun think smiggle is the right word xD i cant think of it. help please. some onamotapoeia (H)
EDIT: oh it was giggle !)

if you look carefully. you can see me joseph and minoli on the right
north sydney girls afternoon tea.
it was sooo soo fun. and for all of the right reasons. very animated people. great strong characters that i met and made friends with. its nice to have lotsa connections out of school.
the activities were tonnes awesome. pony game, speed dating, team competitions
they were all really nice people. and you never know some of these people might be your colleagues in uni.
oh i guess that's one more add to the ttdbid list.
- own a "i love nsg" tshirt
just for the fun of it. their prefects are pretty awesome tho.

a good memory stored into the bank

  1. parents have sacrificed alot for us, so it's only fair for them to share in the pride.

  2. My parents never mention I'm from Ruse. They keep a low profile. I love them for that :). They're sick of the whole arrogant thing and avoid school related conversations with other proud parents of students at our school. haha

    and i agree with your point about having your own spot. I'd want that too, not necessarily in a library, but also to the point where its like the people in the library would recognise you and chat to you and help you maintain your spot (;

  5. Somebody said before that you can't be a genius without being a bit arrogant :)

My dad sucks up to me too sometimes and it does get annoying but other times, he is full condescending and so I don't really listen to him.

Wow you can eat in your library :O

    Sorry bro
