Young doctors

Exam period is making feel a bit peckish. Ok I don't know what peckish means but I feel like I just want to be active and do lots of things.
Only got one more exam to go where the examiner is not allowed to fail you, but it's just that feeling that you know you still have exams that inhibits you from feeling totally free and doing 'holiday stuff'

Meanwhile, I've been watching a lot of medical shows. I don't know why I'm all into it now, but maybe it's cause of that curiosity of what life is gonna be like in a couple of years.

So it all kind of started when Channel Nine put on this new show called Young Doctors, which basically is a camera following interns around Newcastle hospital as they work. First time watching it, the thought of doing the stuff they were doing made me really excited, and at the same time, it makes you realise how long you still have to go.

Anyways for some reason Channel Nine decides to fill the time slot with Celebrity Apprentice and Big bang theory. So after 2 episodes the show's gone missing, and on the channel nine site it doesnt say anything. Apparently some people say that it's coming back on next week.
So I still felt like I hadn't gotten my medical fix, and I stumbled across a previous version called Junior Doctors, made by BBC in England. And the show is REALLY GOOD. I really like it. It's so much more genuine and real, and english doctors seem so much more humble than doctors over here. It doesn't just show the good side of being an intern, but the bad stuff too.
The Australian version seems a bit more glamorous and one of the doctors goes out to get her eyelashes done before going to work. Amy went nuts over that when we were watching it together. She's currently doing a clinical placement in Ingham, and she works 14-15 hour days each day. But on the upside it sounds like great fun and I've just been dying to get my chance to do that sort of stuff.

BBC version

Australian version

I like Adam from the BBC version (2nd from the left) and the asian John is a really funny awkward guy.

Anyways I've finished all the episodes (there were only 6 any) and now I've moved on to watching Amadeus. Wow if Mozart really was like that, then that would have been extraordinary. I feel like I've got a new appreciation for classical music. Started learning moonlight sonata by beethoven as well.
Music just isn't what it was. Especially pop music nowadays. It's all about hooking up and getting this girl and that guy. Not like the 90's and 00's where it was all about raw emotion. Although I must say I'm really enjoying Coldplay's new album. Really colourful and happy music.

Looking forward to summer

So I finished exam 2 of 4 today. prac exam was alright and I've only got end of phase exam and OSCEs left to do. Feeling quite relaxed =)

My light at the end of the tunnel are summer holidays.

Just a couple of things I'm looking forward to:
- Gold coast trip!: Going up to GC to spend a week jetskiing, theme parking and chillaxing on the beach with some of the guys. We got this awesome apartment to stay in which overlooks the beach and ocean. Gold coast accomodation is actually so cheap.

Pretty nice eh!

- Christmas time: Christmas time is always a time I look forward to, and it seems that people are more merrier. Looking forward to attended the christmas services and for some reason carols are such a nice thing to listen to now. You just know its christmas time when you here them. A couple of my friends in class a few weeks ago started singing carols and it made me miss christmas.

- Rural clinical placement in Wodonga: Really looking forward to this. Going to be doing a placement for 2 weeks in wodonga with a mentor doctor. Wodonga's just across the border in victoria. Albury is on the other side of the border. Looking forward to spending 2 weeks with totally clinical exposure. I think it'll make me see the bigger picture when I study for stuff.

- Australian open: Since I was in VIC anyway, will probably be going to melbourne to watch the australian open. I wanna get the quarter finals night package which is about 215 bucks for 4 night matches. I hope they're gonna be really good ones, cause during summer when the australian open is on, you always wish you were actually there for epic matches. Especially Nadal vs Verdasco. I wished I was there sooo much for that.

Might also go to hong kong and china with family during late feb/early march. Tickets are so cheap right now. Cathay pacific return to hong kong is 750 and qantas is similar too, although I dunno if I trust qantas as much. Although it is the A380 and apparently it's really good to fly on.

Back to blogging

It's been pretty much more than a year since I blogged, but when I went to check my email today, I saw a new post by Bosco. I read it, knowing that I wasn't going to spend the time studying, and it just took me back to what it used to be a year and a bit ago. When blogs were abundant and that's how we shared our lives to people we didn't see as much anymore.

So I started going back to read my own blog to see what's changed in a year. I saw this comment by belle which said 'you don't blog anymore' and it sort of made me feel good on the inside =) thinking that my blog was read and enjoyed.

Well what's been happening since a year ago.... hmmm well, the girl I mentioned about 2 posts before (back from a year and a half ago) well we ended up becoming really tight. It's funny now cause I forgot what life was like without her. Before we knew each other. Sometimes we tell each other how weird it is that a year ago we were just complete strangers who sat across the table from each other. I guess I'm going into a lot of private pondering, but that's why I've missed blogging so much. Its just a space where you let all your thoughts flow into words.

Hmmm what else has happened. I've quit my work at talent 100 to pursue a job which gives me more satisfaction in what I'm doing. I guess that just basically means I'm unemployed, and I'm fortunate to be in the position where I don't really need a job (thanks parents!) but I've applied for a couple anyway. I've applied for douglas hanly pathology clinic which basically applying to be the guys who take tubes of blood from you for blood tests. I also applied for boost, but I don't know why now. My mum mentioned that a new boost was opening in Ashfield and they needed staff so I figured I might as well. Maybe it was because I wanted to be a vibrant bright worker, and I wanted to experience what it was like to do a job where you had to clean this, and scoop that, rather than sitting on a chair and answering student's questions. I've always had an appreciation for people who have manual labour jobs like that, whether they work in restaurants, or juice bars. It just seems they are always on the go, scurrying around with no stop. And people who do that for a living, I just imagine them going home at the end of the day to their families and whatnot, I don't know, maybe it's because my mum's in that sort of job too.

What else has happened in the last year...

Origin match, which was amazing

Amy's oldest sister gave birth to Joanna. She's such an adorable baby. I enjoy playing with her so much.

Hospital sessions with our class group. They've been really nice. I'll miss them

Baked my first cake. Haha!

Hahaha I'd like to think there were other things that I did, but that's all the images I have on this computer. I guess one big change that's happened is that it's become really hard to stay in touch with people. I remember in the last days of high school being so compassionate about being in touch with people in uni and throughout life. I guess it's what happens when you don't see each other anymore on a regular basis. Family time has also become so so much more important to me now. I play basketball with my dad at the local courts once or twice a week, and I must say he's not bad for his age. We play pick up basketball with people who are always there, and its a good way to get him fit and healthy. I also go walking along the bay area with my mum on saturdays, and it's such a nice place to walk. I definitely recommend it.

Look at that view.

Anyways, I had an exam today which turned out to be atrocious. I think I failed it, but the only comforting factor is that everyone found it so hard, so surely medfac won't fail everyone.
So onwards continues to month of torture, with 3 more exams to go. Really actually, it's not so bad. People who do other courses have way more exams than us, I just sometimes forget that. Prac exam is on friday so I need to work hard for that. Good thing is that I only need around 35% to pass, cause my previous prac results were above passes. Ahhh medical course surival... you'd be so happy just to pass.

It's felt great to get back on the blogging wagon again. I hope for anyone who might be reading this, that you are well and happy with where you are and what you are =)

Till next time!

Old Gold

While I was cleaning up my desk in the living room, I stumbled across a coupla things that made me really laugh.

Back in year 5, I attended this creative writing class since creative writing was gonna be on trial for the selective school test. So each week our teacher would tell us to write something (story, letter etc.)

So i find this whole stash of writing pieces on my desk shelf. Most of the stories i wrote were somehow relevant to what happened in my real life. Out of the whole pile, my favourites include:
- a writing piece on how to make lamb cutlets
- a story about how a boy ripped his pants playing soccer and ran all the way to the toilets in embarassment to hide (which actually happened to me in year 3)
- a diary entry on how i want to become a mathematician when i grow up. Reading this really made me think, this kid was such a retard. Just to share a bit of it

"I plan to become a mathematician when I grow up. This has been my goal since my teacher first praised me for my maths work. I also like using my brain which makes maths seem like a fun subject to me. Sometimes my relatives email me maths problems. I always turn on the computer to check my email eagerly to recieve more maths problems. My teacher gives me problems as well and I work them out. She also explains how to solve the problem. I love maths"

- This letter addressed to my friend Dante. The first bit goes:
"Dear Dante, I would like to thank for making me a much happier person. When I was in class 2C I had no friends except for Daniel and Oscar. But one day you invited me into a match of soccer and our friendship began. I loved having a match of soccer every afternoon with you and all your friends. It made me so happy"

Something else I found when sorting through was my desk junk was this photo I bought from luna park cause I thought it was the funniest thing ever. I think it was during year 10 while on the wild mouse with Betty.

On the 2nd time around I realised that they actually take your picture like in space mountain at Disneyland, hence my well timed pose. I really don't know what Betty was doing though.

End of semester recap

I've just taken this antibiotic and i can't lie down afterwards for 30 minutes for some reason. I don't want to do my long-need-to-be-really-done-by-now-already assignment, so I thought I'd do a long time not done blog.

For most people, it is now stuvac and uni these days are so empty. For the med kids, there's still 2 more weeks to go until out little break. Exams are in exactly two weeks for us, so really need to start studying.

But anyways, a lot of things have passed by since the last time i've blogged and I just wanted to post down my thoughts and feelings on my first semester of uni and also I wanted to photoblog a few things i've done recently.

T&F(Thoughts and feelings) on the first semester of med: First half of semester was something that didn't hit me that hard as a really significant change. Workload wasn't that much and everything I was learning was still pretty ok. Med's pretty interesting and we're usually just working away in lectures and computer labs like these

People had told me heaps of stuff beforehand, so I guess some of the new things i had to adjust to were somewhat expected. Adjusting to uni gap breaks was a little bit weird at first cause there was no more of that lunchtime basketball, or lunchtime chilling in the common room.
Discovered people's passion of hating on ruse. I learned to let it go. There should really be a fb group which goes "the awkwardness when someone mentions that they're from ruse" But med people in general are pretty cool and cheery people. Still getting to know people and starting to form tight friendships with them

Second half of semester was so much more overwhelming when the 2nd years started coming in and joining our classes. You look at them and you just go omgsh. how smart are they all. and they all work so hard and know all this stuff. how do you even find the time to do that.
There's this girl in my Scenario Group (Basically a bunch of people you are with 2 times a week, to go over and discuss what we've learnt with the help of a facilitator- usually a GP) who i swear is the combination of peter chen, simone, jackie, ruilong in terms of work ethic, and smartness. My mind was just blown away. What made me even more amazed was that she is the nicest person i have ever met. There cannot be a single person who hates her. It's just impossible. She's polite, she's helpful, she's caring. When we first started, she emailed me to ask how i was finding everything and to see if there was anything she could help me out with. She went on to say that she knows 1st year can be tough and that if I was having any trouble, she would be there. My initial reaction was just :O woah. I was really touched by her caring nature. Not only that, she brings baked cakes to class every time, she's always cheery, annnddd i could really go on forever.
I see 2nd years and I think to myself, yeah that's where I want to be in a years time.

Anyways since uni have started, the beginning was really relaxing and watching footy, driving around and going for maccas runs was a very regular thing

Night driving is one of my most favourite things to do. The feeling of independence hasn't worn off yet, and its just so soothing too. Traffic frustrates me though

During the semester term, I decided to fly up to queensland for a weekend to meet neha and mariya. Made trips to brisbane and gold coast to see em and hang out n it was really good.

went all around brisbane with mariya. south bank, city central, XXXX brewery tour, suncorp stadium, city central clubs, brisbane casino (just to look of course), south bank cinemas and much more. Can't believe i crammed so much into a day actually, but it was all good.
Went off to the GC the next day to meet up with neha and for it being my first time in the GC, i just thought it was a really nice place to live. Water channels are every so really serene and beautiful. Not many people live there either so its heaps quiet.
Made a quick trip to Neha's uni Bond, and their campus is nice as

Being a tourist moment for me, we had to go to surfers paradise to check it out. So caught the bus there from bond and spent the rest of the arvo there lying in the sun and chatting. Sadly i had to say goodbye and leave for the airport shortly afterwards.

Another final thing i thought was worth mentioning was a med charity event a few of us did a few weekends ago. It was a kind of spoof on amazing raise, and if some of you had read bosco's blog, you would know a bit about it. Basically the real amazing race around sydney, with the challenges being wacky daring things we had to do. One of them was to take 5 different photos. Jump photo, striking a pose at channel 7 HQ, a skateboarder smiling sweetly at one of the team members, posing in front of lindt cafe, and running pose at martin place station.

Really enjoyed that saturday even though the weather was dismal.
Thought it was worthy to mention that Kelly got off the bus to buy some sushi while we were still on it, and then ran back to get on the same bus again. Pretty impressive even though we were stuck in traffic.

Anyways i think thats enough blogging for now.
Good luck for your exams everyone. Have a safe happy holiday

Song memories

Was talking to sy about this last night.i thought it was a really interesting thing. wondering if people get this too

for me, certain songs just remind of certain time periods in my life. mainly because that song was played in some way or manner during that time, and since then its tune will always be stuck with that patch of time. whenever the song comes on, it just takes me back to that point in time.

for example -
slide - goo goo dolls & save tonight - eagle eye cherry. reminds of the autumn of '07. jero played these songs on his phone repeatedly during our hike and we all sorta sang along. it just reminds of this beautiful crisp morning we had, just soaking the nature and all of it in.

chasing cars - snow patrol. reminds me of the winter of '07. everyone used to be really into this song during then. it was played during our musical afterparty and we just all belted out the lyrics. it'll forever remind me of the good times we had in musical

big girls don't cry - fergie . haha this reminds of the summer of '08/09 . i think it was played during our valentines day dance and the school as one started singing along. girls n guys included. it just reminds me of the great fun we had at school and the great people.

there's plenty more. but you probably get the point.
anyways thinking about this sorta stuff drifted my mind to the amount of crap we get for going to ruse. and sometimes i joke that i actually went to brisbane state high school. nowadays i just cop it, cause i realise it's nothing to be ashamed of. to me high school will forever be filled with good memories and the great people. i wouldnt have had it any other way.
it's easy to hate, but it feels better to love.

as some random deep person said:
"Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose."

that's all from me today.
have a great easter break.
take care

Hug Someone

I get up this easter friday morning having just dreamt of being in some live shooting game called "numbers". was very weird indeed

anyways i happened to pick up a book which connie got me during year 10 called "change the world for 10 bucks"
and it's a really nice book. you suddenly feel the need to be an environmentalist and be an active community member. makes the world seem like a much better place as well.
the book contains 50 simple everyday actions which if enough people do, they will change the world.

one of the pages is called hug someone which i thought was nice so i'm just gonna share it.

A friend of mine has
never forgotten seeing his
father kiss his grandad's
hand as
he lay in a coma
just before he died.

It was the only time
he had ever seen
them kiss

And the only time he
hugged his father was
when his sister died

It wasn't that they weren't
close, just that they were
grown up,
they were men, and
Australian, and only
death could take down
all the barriers

But children do it
instinctively - they want
to touch and be touched
to hold and be held.

So if there was one bit
of advice we'd give
everyone reading this
book, it would be this

Touch someone you love

Hold Them

Kiss them.

It's the one piece of magic
we call all do, every day.

uni thoughts.

I'm sitting here in an ethics lecture kind of zoning out. even though a person has taken his time to come and give us a talk. He's telling us about his struggle with his daily life and the things he has to do to cope with a paralyzed life.

Uni has been going well. Been enjoying learning new things and getting to know new people. But something still doesn't feel so right.
I guess it's in one way because i miss school and i miss the environment. Sat on the train this morning thinking about all the teachers at school and wondering how they're all doing.
Met up with Joe yesterday as well and he seems to be having a good time at school. Talking to some of the ruse kids at talent100 also made me feel a bit of nostalgia. They have exams right now. But instead of thinking "i'm so glad i'm not doing that anymore", i think "ahhh. i remember those days" and smile.

Things during the week keep me going. I look forward to monday basketball each week, and also our med faculty has a touch college cup this afternoon. So looking forward to winning our first game for college C. Work and church on sunday is very enjoyable too. I enjoy working and just having fun with the students. Yesterday we went out to get tubs of ice cream from coles, and just ate it in the study rooms with forks.

A guy I work with (Dr Tony Hall) told me heaps about the stuff he's done over his life. He used to be a doctor intern for 2 years before he became sick of treating sick people. He then went to become a head math teacher at sydney grammar before moving on to being the head of newington. He's good friends with Bill Pender (Mr Cambrdige) too. In high school he used to bully Tony Abbott around because he was 5 years above him.
He's invited me and a couple of the guys to have dinner with him at his home. He lives in a really nice house along kirribilli wharf. It looks out to sydney harbour. His son's a chef too so i'm really looking forward to that.

*skip 4 hours*

I'm currently in my scenario group session discussing about how to make good communication. It really is just verbal blab. But i guess i gotta get back to it before my coordinator guy thinks i lack attention skills and whatnot. The people in my group are pretty cool though.

That's it for now. Looking forward to what's to come.
Newton has great cheap thai btw. i wish it was located closer to UNSW

Summer Recap

Well as of today midnight. Our summer holidays are over. and a new chapter begins in our lives
and mainly as a way of remembering my summer of 09/10. decided to put up a brief recap of the whole 4 months.
when i look back at it. it has been pretty good. lots of things have changed. new things experienced, new friendships made.

Well the highlights for my summer would have to be:
- formal after party

renting and staying in a high rise apartment was just something so new and exciting to do. the views from up there was so amazing and just reminded me again of how beautiful our city is. Also walking in the middle of the city has a certain serene calmness to it. It was just empty at 3am. and that sunrise was just wow.
- schoolies
definitely the best week of my life. looking forward to doing it again next year.

just the stuff we did was so fun and it was so nice spending a week with friends doing everything. beaching, lighting up sparkler bombs, cooking, late night talks, movies, wii, erina fair.
-zoo trip and NYE
for me it was the first time i've watched fireworks in the city since i was around 5. definitely made me feel like the city was such a dirty place with all the rubbish floating around afterwards.

zoo was pretty awesome seeing all the animals and whatnot, and not a kiddy thing to do at all.

fireworks were average but hey. when you start to say that, you know that you're really spoilt
- Donating blood

First time donating blood for me. So it was a pretty cool new experience. nothing much else to say.
- Job at talent100

being my first job ever, it has turned out pretty good. i actually look forward to working each week. The staff are pretty awesome to talk with and the students are funny too. Although i think i bludge too much. Hopefully i'll get to teach later on. for now it's just marking and tutoring.
- Connect
Over the holidays connect has been something i've been regularly going to. Jian, Joy and Andrew Gan of ruse run it, so it's been fun learning new things and meeting new people.

- Cousin's stayover
My cousin came over with my aunt (his mum) to sydney this feb for the first time ever. So my parents and I showed them around. It was nice seeing my relatives again for the first time in 5 years. My cousin is still pretty naughty though. We had dinner at the beverly hills restaurant while they were here, and the lobster sashimi was so nice. looks pretty incredible too when they bring it out for you.

- Getting ready for uni
Gosh that welcome lecture for med at Oweek was boring. Hopefully it wont be like that in uni

Been spending the past week tryna get ready for uni. Just clearing out space in my room. Got a new portable hard drive too. Oh and something i found pretty exciting was going to buy all the med stuff for uni. kris got me my stethoscope today and it looks somewhat like this

the littman classic II in dark blue tubing. got it for $95 for those wondering how much stethoscopes cost

After reading what i've just written, it's so disjointed. so i apologise. but yes. i'm looking forward to the next stage. mainly the people we'll meet, stuff we'll learn and the new things we'll get to experience.

I'm already looking forward to the next summer. Now that we know how much time there really is, hopefully i'll be able to pack more things into it

Hopefully we'll all still be in touch. and not too busy. The thought of exams in june makes me sick already. But yes that is about it for now. Have fun in uni and
Take care y'all

The burger.

I'm so happy cause I have officially converted everyone at my workplace to the burgerhut17 a.k.a degrill.
It's good to know that they share my some love for the burger. Lunch breaks at talent100 are spent waiting at degrill.
Even the students are getting into it.
Example:
"Hey Mike, watcha eating there"
"Best burger in the world"
"Degrill right?"

Let it be known that theburgerhut17 is famously known now.

The only thing that pees me off is the lady still pretends like she doesnt know me. I've spent 2 freaking years tryna become a regular at that place
Everytime i walk in she goes:
"What do you want?"
in my head i'm like "I come here bloody 3 times a week at the same time, and order the same thing everytime"
Yeah and I saw her giving some special offer to some woman when I was waiting for burger to be cooked. She sold her a 600mL bottle coke for $1. Yeah I was pretty cut. I've paid full price everytime.

Anyways. i must go sleep otherwise i'll never wake up for O-week FREE PANCAKES
just dropping in to say the burgers at degrill are awesome as always.

we're all growing up.

During these summer holidays, I've probably sat down at my desk several times, opening up blogger trying to think of things to say. thoughts and feelings. things I've done. But i don't know. just didn't think there was anything really important to mention.

Haven't been doing much over the past month or so. Just kinda little things here and there, and i'm just kinda itching to do one last adventurous thing before uni starts. But over the past month, i've been noticing a lot of change in most of us. I mean heaps of people have started to work. whether its just tutoring jobs or with big firms for cadetships. enrolling for uni, getting all our timetables, and even some already starting uni. just reading about it in other people's blogs, or just talking about it with people, just kinda really gives me the sense that we're all growing up. maybe even a bit too fast.
Don't get me wrong. work can be great. i think for me one of the nice feelings is taking on that extra role of responsibility. stuff that is attached with the coming of age. such as getting Ps, or becoming a senior, a role model and especially starting a job.

I've just recently started working at talent100 as a marker. and i'm finding it really fun. well not the work itself. which is kinda boring. but the people who work there and the students make it so much more fun. There's a couple of guys there who are doing med with me next year as well. so it's been pretty awesome getting to know them all. Today i spent 10 hours working there. but it really felt like nothing. half of the time was just spent talking with people and playing games.
We're going paintballing next friday as a group. Kris and Janette still think intuition is more awesome. I don't mind either way.

Sometimes when i think about it. It feels weird to be on the other side of that "HSC wall" when i was a junior, i remember always thinking that the day after HSC will never come. it was just so far away. and just something i didn't hafta worry about for a long long time. and for me it feels like i've just gone from that mindset and just jumped over that wall without even thinking about it.
Going back to school for valentines day assembly kind of made me realise that. Just talking to the teachers and catching up on stuff we've been doing and stuff they've been doing at school. Reminded me of the many things i left behind as we graduated. KO sport team tryouts, school carnivals, school assemblies, shy year 7's coming through each year, newbie people, agriculture.
Facebook in a way reminds you of these things too, when people invite you groups such as JONES OWNS or people post up videos of valentines assembly.

But uni is something i'm really looking forward to. Just meeting these incredible outgoing people at my workplace doing med, it makes me excited to get to know the rest of the med bunch. I'm also sorta working my way through understanding uni in-jokes as well. Like I told Bosco:
- The only job art students get out of their degree is a job at maccas
- The bachelor of medical science is also known as the bachelor of GAMSAT.
Btw, i didn't mean to offend anyone doing arts or medical science in particular. just passing on what i've been told.
Something that James Xu from ruse 08 said made me laugh a bit. He mentioned at melbourne uni one day, that they had put dynamic lifter on their lawn to fertilise it. His friends cowered at the smell, but to him it just smelt like home.

Anyways. I'm just gonna limit to there. For whoever reading. sorry if it didnt make any sense. I just basically rambled what was going through my head while i was typing this up.

Enjoy the little time you have left of your holidays. Do whatever you've always wanted to do. Don't spend all the time working. We got 50 more years or working to do. Lets just enjoy the time we have now =)

Take Care All

A piece of my life - living it up

Recently i've been getting in basketball quite a bit lately.
Actually starting a team in competition at auburn quite soon, so looking forward to that.
So I'd just like to share a piece of my life with you guys.

Go here probably 4-5 times a week in the arvo. A basketball court right next to this park which is behind burwood girls.
Tonnes of people come in the arvo to play and we'd play for hours on end. Like I said in my med interview, i love it how sport brings people together. i've gotten to know so many of the people there, and we've become good friends. Feels pretty cool to be homies with maori guys as well, so that's an added bonus.
Most of the people who go there are chinese guys who've migrated from china in the past 5 years. since Ashfield i predominantly asian.
To them i'm like a white kid who is chinese. cause they always speak in fobby english to me, when i can perfectly understand and speak mandarin.

Anyways, the other night my family went out to beverly hills to eat at seafood restaurant again. On the way home, my dad insisted dropping by stanmore to look at the houses decked with christmas lights. Which were pretty impressive, but not as good as my dad hyped it up to be.

I reckon it'd be pretty cool if i could fully decorate my place with christmas decorations. A few years ago, our neighbour did that and also had the jingle bells music playing over and over again on one of their toys. got kind of annoying, especially when we had to sleep.

can't believe christmas is coming so soon. where did this whole year go.

went laser tagging today with some of the guys.

thursday $8 games for whoever is interested laters. and we can do it in suits this time. that's one thing checked off my things to do before i die list.

this post has been really disjointed. but just wanted to post this stuff up so i won't forget them in years to come. this blog is sort of my little time capsule to come back on and remember what i did and felt and stuff like that

hoping to see many of you soon at ATAR bbq. until next time
take care

In a nutshell - my adventures

Can you believe it. It's only been a month since we all finished our exams. That's crazy.
Also been nearly a month since i last blogged. so
1- i've pretty much forgotten how to type and recount properly
2- a lot of stuff has happened

To avoid a TL;DR i'll just quickly summarise some of the things that have happened since i last blogged.

UNSW interviews followed by aryan's place.

interviews went pretty well. i felt really comfortable talking in there and the time just passed by so quickly. it was so damn hot that day too. so afterwards i drove me and sy up to aryan's place on full blast air con to join some others in some fun n games.

Epping BBQ

I always love barbeques. Especially when it's with a big bunch of friends.
Nothing better than having a sausage sizzle with some few cold drinks on a summer's day. It's so calm and relaxing.
Bought a big bunch of sausages and drinks . and it was really good. played some basketball and around the play equipment afterwards. cheap thing to do too. 5 bucks a head with drinks food and ice blocks . Definitely will do again

Matt's place

Afterwards caught the bus to matt's place to stayover at his place for the night.
Went out to a bistro nearby to eat. I love going to bistro's cause their steaks aren't bad and they're really cheap too. Food tastes good when it's good and it's cheap.

Dropped over the red rooster to claim some cheeseburger kris had on his entertainment book voucher thingo. and headed back and just wii'd and snooker'd and pool'd all night. The time passed so quickly. It was already 5am when I thought it was 1. Pulled my second all-nighter after formal. Felt so bad afterwards xD
Got to parra maccas and just ate a whole load of hot cakes and headed home. Had a shower and crashed my bed for 8 hours. Sleep deprivation makes you feel so bad afterwards.

SCHOOLIES TRIP
I gotta say. perhaps one of my best weeks of my life. actually definitely.
Such a fun new experience. Loved it so much. Miss the place so much. Already looking forward to doing it again some time.

So much stuff went on and they were all so fun. Highlights for me would be the late night beach sparkle bomb sessions. the day at erina fair. the music stereo playing when we were preparing food and the late night dnm session.

Had a hot streak at erina fair where we decided to buy heaps of scratchies from the newsagent and ended up walking away from it 5 dollars richer. which was awesome. then we spent some money on those chocolate grabbing machines in the shopping centre and walked away from it with a load of candy.
had dinner at spur steak ranch which was really cheap since it was 2 for 1 night for the burgers.

Me and swami also came up with an idea of making a new blog dedicated to recounts of our burger eats and our ratings of the burgers we will try all around sydney. Kind of like a grab your fork. only its just burgers. We still need a name for it.

after dinner. hit up intencity and i hit the jackpot on the monopoly machine. so we were able to all get BEST FRIENDS bands (also thanks to sweet talking the intencity lady ;) into allowing us to have 240 tickets instead of the 232 we had) which was awesome. I flashed them in my UWS interview.
Shopping centres close really early over there. So by the time we left. we were the only ones there. Made an awesome sparkler bomb and attempted to make a bonfire at the beach that night.

Day after, me swami and bryan went out to erina fair again to get matching manbags which were on sale like crazy. reduced to 14 bucks from 60 bucks. and the bags look awesome.

had to include this in. alison found a kid's girl bike in some thrown away trash. and tried to ride it.

Just felt so good that we could live together well as a family for 7 days. That we all cared for each other and looked after each other. Also got to know some people so much more better after this experience. Cause you don't really know how people are at home and stuff really until you spend a lot of time 24/7 to them. They all became my family and i just felt much more open to them afterwards.
We had this late night dnm session until 5am which really made me think about some stuff. But it was just so awesome that we were all open to each other and didn't hold back.
Games of mafia were awesome too. Had a bunch of pretty funny people. and we went on a laughing high for about 2 hours late at night.

UWS interviews followed by HOUSE PARTY
UWS interviews were screwed up. Didn't like it much. Role play sucked. I wouldn't go there anyway after having to travel for ages to get there for interview
Although i did look pretty fly in my business clothes and my manbag. Bryan decided to turn up with his old adidas manbag. which was a dissapointment

Drove up to house party the next morning. Picked up carol from chatswood station. She got me some korean ice block thing which kinda melted by the time we got there since i couldnt eat along the way.

Felt so good to see people from school again. Not just our grade. But all the rest of the peeps. And that we were all there for the same cause. Had lots of fun. Especially picking up basketball again after a week, getting into some deep discussion and the night concert that vijay put on with his band 'road to canaan'. They are a pretty good band. Check them out. Everyone was up and jumping up and down to them. Geoff went kinda crazy haha.

Was helping vijay carry some stuff from his car beforehand and met his band people. Realised one of them 'joel' used to be in my class back in year 3 when we had composite class. So it was pretty awesome to see him again. Back in those days, he was like my big brother. Went digging in my photo archives for photos, and i found him.

He's the one on the left. Guess who the one on the right is.
Left around 9-30 with carol. Dropped her off at chatswood again, and went driving back home. Kinda got lost along the way and i found myself driving past ryde aquatic centre. So i pulled over and checked the map. Went to get maccas for a bit. and drove the long way home. But it was so carefree just driving back at night with my coldplay cd on and just my car on the road . Felt so independent.

So that's about my adventures for now. I can definitely say that my past month has definitely lived up to the hype that i was expecting beforehand. Especially schoolies. Can't believe theres still so much time until we start uni, and that ATAR results are coming out soon. But i don't really care about those things right now.
Enjoy yourselves everybody. Do what you've always wanted to do. Don't hold back
Take care

THE WAGYU BURGER

I'm so damn excited for formal. i actually don't know what goes on during the 5 hours but pretty excited at finally being free and not being restricted by study or parents. my parents have been especially nice after HSC :P

If i haven't excitingly already told you, i passed my P's on thursday
oh joy :D i was so happy
the day when i was actually supposed to do my driving test, this asian driving test guy told me my central brake light was not working, so I had to go get it fixed and do the driving test the next day.
I had a lady instructor on the thursday and i wasnt really nervous actually since i'd already been to the rta the day before and went through the motions. The test passed by really quickly and i was really really careful making my head movements really obvious xD must've looked like an ostrich
waited at this T-junction for around 6 minutes just waiting for the road to be clear, so that ate up some time thankfully :P

Straight afterwards i drove to school by myself for the first time :P It felt pretty good. I dunno why, but i must say i feel more of a man now i can go places without being restricted by transport xD

What happened today:
went grocery shopping for some food and drinks for formal after-party, it feels good to be of some help :P
got about 5L of juice, 3L of ice tea, 4 cans of red bull and getting the rest of the stuff on monday. afterwards went biking and went to play some basketball down at the local courts. it's full of chinese fob uni students and maori people
was just chatting to swami online, and he was asking for a lift to formal and this is what came across:

rohan says:
fair enough
hey can you give me a lfit to formal?

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
yeah?
umm hey what about this
im going into the city beforehand
to unload the drinks into the apartment
the girls are gonna be there too
can you catch a train to strathfield and i'll pick you up there?

rohan says:
yeah thats fine
are we still going drinks shopping on monday?

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
yep yep
umm do you mind going into the city with me?
and we can chill for a bit while the girls get ready
then head off
saves me making a return trip

rohan says:
awesome
itd be good to chill in the arvo
what time is all this?

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
umm
can you get to strathfield at around 4-30?
so we'll get to city by 5

rohan says:
DUDE

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
and then chill until 6

rohan says:
BURGER!?

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
OH MAN

rohan says:
WE'D BE IN SUITS TOO

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
YES WE WOULD
I NEEDA CHECK WHERE THIS PLAN B place is

rohan says:
oh my god oh my god oh my god this is so perfect

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
i reckon eh
ok the place closes at 4pm
so get to strathfield by 3
i need to part into the car space at meriton
*park
and we'll walk over to get a burger

rohan says:
freaking. awesome.

[ruse09] .Mkl Ľīů says:
man i cant wait

Finally, getting to taste that plan B wagyu burger in the city AND in suits. for himym non-fanatics or people who are not regular readers of my blog, seems like we're making a fuss over nothing.

But i'm so excited to try this burger. a nice filler before the formal
finally everything is coming into place and life is becoming more and more enjoyable.

That's it for now. I must include a picture before i leave so here it is:

kris at his sweatiest and best after an intense squash session. man that sport is heaps of fun. really really tiring too. i recommend giving it a try, no wonder drew is so fit. sadly my phone can't capture the strongly defined sweat patch on his shirt which extends all the way down the shirt. yum

play safe, can't wait to see you all at formal. lets have some fun

The start of a new life

It's been a while since i last posted.

What's happened since the last post:
- HSC. exams are not worth mentioning as post-HSC is hardly a time to be thinking of how we did in exams. during that period went on an obsessive search for fellow 3u math competitors. felt like i did ok overall, so we shall see how the results come out.

- Got an MSI netbook :D thanks to joseph's sweet hookups from his dad.

MSI Wind U100 plus for only 400 bucks !! pretty awesome deal. and thanks to the government, we get half of that back :P so really i'm just paying 200 bucks for this netbook. Currently typing on it, and its great. Bluetooth all my phone pictures over to here for my blog :P and just enabled my wireless internet again, so i can finally type here lying on my bed.

hey i thought there'd be much more that went on during this period, but turns out it was just all study.

anyways i've been waiting for this moment for a long time and here were a couple of things i had planned out earlier:
- Get a bike and go riding along birkenhead point to rozelle track
- Go taste the wagyu burger in the city
- Go get a therapeutic massage
- Go basketball
- Go meet up with old friends
- Go gym
- Go squash
- Go enter table tennis competitions
- Go start a tutoring job
- Go get my formal stuff
- Go prepare how to cook some food just in case for schoolies
- Go get new clothes
- Go get a pair of sunglasses
- Go get my Ps
- Go crash peoples places and play
- Go sleepover

and there's more which i currently can not think of. and it'd be tl;dr
so far today, went on a drive with my dad to practise for my Ps test, so we went on a route out to five dock-rozelle-abbotsford-russell lea . most northern western people wouldn't have a clue where these places are. but its just between my place and the city with lots of water front views. doing my Ps test on the 11th, so thought it'd be good if i got used to the roads near the five dock RTA place.

on the way we passed this shop which my dad mentioned had really long queues at night. as i was driving past on the shop, it said " best fish and chips in the universe ". so we stopped by to try it out

apparently this shop has won best fish and chip shop for 17 years in a row. and the shop looked pretty good itself. on one side they sold raw seafood stuff, and on the other side was the cooked stuff

10-50 for fish and chips, a bit over price compared to the homebush 5-80 which included a drink. but it was ok cause it was supposedly the best fish and chips in the universe. started eating it, and it was ok, but nothing real special. the batter was real crispy and i'd be very happy to eat that if i had that lunch very regularly.

it was my mum's birthday today as well so we went to one of the ashfield's chinese restaurants to eat. also a very happy birthday to eddy if you happen to read this in hong kong :) ashfield restaurants make pretty nice chinese food for a really cheap price. you could get full on 10 bucks a person. and the food is quality stuff. so if you wanna give it a try i'll gladly take you :P i still havent forgotten my promise to shout you guys in the future cause we're all schoolmates.

afterwards we went to kmart to pick up a bike. got a really good helmet for 3 bucks as well xD . kmart always screws up prices on some stuff. when i scanned the helmet to check the price i couldnt believe it. and when i went to ask the checkout girl she couldnt believe it either. but i got it for 3 bucks anyway :P
went home and assembled the bike. really looking forward to riding it and getting fit.

also hooked myself onto a tutoring job for 30 bucks an hour. well the person is still considering whether or not to go to dr du or me xD i told her if she brought a friend i'd do it for 20 bucks an hour
also went to visit talent 100 to ask about tutoring there. i need to make a CV which i've never done before. i was expecting talent 100 to be intuition like, but seems like the business is totally student run. the guy there was probably 21.

got a few things coming up, really looking forward to schoolies and getting active and going places. also reading looking forward to driving by myself if i do pass my Ps. i see forums are dead
but it'd be pretty cool if the grade went and did something together. i remember the year 10/11 grade picnic kinda failed, but it was still really fun. i hope there's plenty more time to do things
dad's also been bugging me about going to do an interview training course. so i dunno if i will. i was telling kelly how i really didnt like planned responses for that kinda thing. kinda ironic cause it was the day before english.
so i guess we'll see

for now that is all
enjoy your holidays :P
let loose
